Are you interested in books about the struggles to get through a teen pregnancy you should read Bluford High The Test by Peggy Kern. When the main character Liselle Mason goes to a party and meets a new boy in town she really wants to get to now him and keep him interested in her. While she is trying to keep him interested she makes a mistake and gets pregnant. For weeks, she ignored the changes in her body and tried to forget her brief relationship with Oscar Price but she couldn’t run from this problem. I think this is a really good book that a lot of teenage girls can relate too because you can understand some of the problems she goes through.

The setting takes place in the past about how she got pregnant. She comes back to Bluford high to tell her story about her situation and how everything ended up. Liselle’s journey as a mom changes how she acts and thinks. This is why she thought it would be good tell the other girls about her life thinking it would change their choices before it was too late. We get to hear about when everything in her life got hard and how she tried to run from her problem instead of facing it. In the end her lecture changed their lives and the way they think about life and what they would like to do in their future.

The theme of this book for me is to have fun, but not too much fun, think about things before you do it and more importantly be careful. Liselle went to the party and felt accepted when Oscar gave he attention, which led her to do things she shouldn’t have done. This also shows teenagers that you really need to think about the things that you do before something serious happens. Liselle had to learn the hard way because she tried to hard to get Oscar, but he still ended up not wanting her.

I honestly can say that I can recommend this book. I recommend it to young teenage girls that want to go out and fit in with everyone else because as we see in the story it doesn’t always go right. My opinion about this book is positive. I like the book and I think it show teen’s what can happen if you aren’t protected. The book shows it’s not easy to be a mom at such a young age. It takes a lot of energy, time, and money. Young girls shouldn’t have kids because they are truly not ready for kids.

Yasmine - You've done a good job with the structure of the book review. Your review is clearly organized. You evaluate the realistic setting and the themes. Now that you have the structure down, I want you to work on proofreading!
